Mercy Weight Loss Center Earns Gold Standard Award

Health Management Resources (HMR) has presented its Gold Standard Achievement Award to the Mercy Weight Loss Center at Dakota Dunes for achieving excellence in weight loss treatment.

The honor distinguishes the Mercy Weight Loss Center from hundreds of clinics nationwide that are using the HMR weight loss program.

HMR recognizes programs that demonstrate excellence in performance and patient care by presenting Gold Standard Certificates bi-annually to selected clinics. The criteria for the awards include such variables as group attendance, compliance with the imperatives, weight loss success rates, and weight maintenance success rates. HMR clinics nationwide submit clinical data in these areas. The top programs are then awarded the Gold Standard Award for excellence within these different categories.

“We are honored to receive the Gold Standard Award because it verifies the dedication of our staff to providing the best patient care to Siouxland residents,” said Jennifer Black, RN, CBN, bariatric nurse coordinator for the Mercy Weight Loss Center in Dakota Dunes. “Above all else, we dedicate this honor to our patients. This achievement would not have been possible without their hard work and commitment to the program and their health.”

The Mercy Weight Loss Center at Dakota Dunes launched a non-surgical, state-of-the-art weight-loss program two years ago.

Appropriate for those who want to lose anywhere from 10 to more than 100 pounds, the medically managed program offers several dieting options: clinic-based weight loss programs with or without medical supervision, or home-based weight loss programs with complete “do it yourself” diet kits.

Establishment of the HMR non-surgical weight loss program expanded the weight loss options offered by the specialty center to include both surgical and non-surgical alternatives.

The research-based program helps patients use nutritionally complete HMR weight-loss foods like shakes, entrees, soup, cereal, and nutrition bars as the basis of the diet. Emphasis is placed on teaching new lifestyle skills and healthier behaviors.

After weight loss, participants join an extensive maintenance program that focuses on simple strategies for long-term weight management.

Health Management Resources is the nation’s leading provider of weight treatment services to the medical community.

Established in 2007, the Mercy Weight Loss Center at Dakota Dunes is a joint partnership among Mercy Medical Center—Sioux City, Dr. William Rizk, Dr. Michael Wolpert, Dr. Keith Vollstedt, and Dr. Ross Bacon.

The Mercy Weight Loss Center at Dakota Dunes is located at 705 Sioux Point Road, Suite 150, Dakota Dunes. For more information, call (605) 217-4567 or visit www.mercywlcenter.com.
