Mercy Medical Center Celebrates Cardiac Rehab Week
Mercy Medical Center recently celebrated Cardiac Rehabilitation Week with daily special events for the Cardiac Rehab clients. Special events included challenges, contests, prizes, as well as heart-healthy snacks.
Cardiac Rehabilitation (rehab) is a medically supervised program that helps improve the health and well-being of people who have heart problems. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Mercy includes exercise training, education on heart healthy living, and counseling to reduce stress and help clients lead a more healthy and active life. The 4,400-square-foot Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center, located on the fourth floor of the Mercy Heart Center, provides clients with access to an indoor walking track, treadmills, stationary bikes, upper-body exercise equipment, free weights, NuSteps, Airdynes and universal exercise equipment. The Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center is adjacent to Mercy Medical Center, which affords an extra measure of safety for the participants in this program.
The Mercy's Cardiac Rehab Program has been serving Siouxland for over 30 years and is the only program in the area that has been certified by The American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This certification is the result of Mercy's intense focus on quality care.
