Blue Zones Project Sioux City Announces Mercy a Blue Zones Worksite
Blue Zones Project® Sioux City today announced Mercy Medical Center as a designated Blue Zones Worksite® in Sioux City. Mercy fulfilled the Blue Zones Worksite designation criteria including the engagement of more than 25 percent of its employees.
Blue Zones Worksites maintain work environments that promote and encourage employee well-being. Mercy Medical Center completed designation criteria in the areas of leadership, purpose, habitat and physical environment, engagement and creation of social networks, policies and benefits, and well-being solutions.
Some of Mercy’s accomplishments included adoption of policies that support a well-being advisory committee, sharing aggregate screening information with the workforce and an increase in the offerings of incentive programs as well as fitness boot camps.
"In healthcare, much of our time is spent taking care of our patients and rightfully so. At Mercy, our goal is to also have our employees taking care of themselves, which ultimately helps us improve as caregivers," said Linda Krei, CHRO/Vice President of Support Services.
There will be a blue ribbon cutting and certificate presentation at Mercy Medical Center's south lobby located at 801 5th Street, on Thursday, March 6, at 11:00 a.m.
Brought to Iowa through an innovative sponsorship by Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, in collaboration with Healthways and Blue Zones®, Blue Zones Project is a community-by-community well-being improvement initiative designed to make healthy choices easier through permanent changes to environment, policy, and social networks.
