Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City has begun its digital mammography service at its downtown campus. The availability of this new service was made possible by a grant from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. Mercy Medical Center now provides digital mammography services at two locations – the Mercy Breast Care Center in Dakota Dunes and the Mercy Medical Center main campus.
Barb Black, Director of Mercy Radiology and Neurophysiology Services, says the addition of the new equipment to the Mercy campus is great news for the women of Siouxland. “Because of our downtown location and proximity to residential neighborhoods, we routinely see many women who have significant medical needs,” said Black. “With this generous gift from The Helmsley Trust, Mercy will be able to bring those services not only to our patients but to those women who otherwise may not have access to digital mammography.”
The Mercy Breast Care Center in Dakota Dunes introduced digital mammography to the Siouxland area in 2007. The addition of the new equipment at Mercy Medical Center’s downtown hospital will further expand the availability of service to women of the region.
Drs. Fahima Qalbani, Adnan Qalbani and Minh Luu practice at the Mercy Breast Care Center. At the downtown Mercy site, Drs. Luu and Jon Taylor will serve patients who are taking advantage of the new equipment provided by The Helmsley Trust.
