Mercy Plans Annual Welte Lectureship for Healthcare Professionals
Mercy Medical Center—Sioux City will host its 15th annual Verna Welte Lectureship for nurses and other healthcare professionals on May 3 at the Marina Inn in South Sioux City. This year’s conference features Karyn Buxman, RN, a storyteller who provides an entertaining, inspiring and energized session to help us survive and thrive as healthcare professionals.
Registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, advanced practice nurses and other healthcare professionals may choose to attend either a morning program on Thursday, May 3 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or an afternoon/evening session that same day from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registrations will be at 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 pm.
Mercy’s annual Welte Lectureship is designed to provide nurses with a renewed sense of pride in the nursing profession. Founded in 1998, the annual conference is named in honor of long-time nursing professional Verna Welte, who was a nursing instructor and administrator at St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Sioux City, and later vice president of Patient Care Services at Marian Health Center, now Mercy Medical Center.
Healthcare is one of the few professions that afford one the opportunity to impact lives on such a profound level, not only physically but emotionally and spiritually as well. The same qualities that make healthcare so deeply rewarding can also make it a challenge to sustain one’s energy and passion. This year’s presentation will help nurses maintain and recapture those elusive qualities.
Karyn Buxman will help you discover how each of us has a role to enhance patient relationships and satisfaction. She will make sure you leave with a refreshed spirit to be a leader in staying ahead of the game. Remember to wear your “flip flops” as she takes you on this 3 ½ hour theme-based “Cruise Get-Away.”
All attendees must pre-register. The early registration fee for the conference is $39 if postmarked by April 12. After that date, all fees will be $10 more. There is no charge for nursing professionals employed by Mercy Medical Center and members of the St. Vincent’s School of Nursing Alumnae Association.
