Mercy Foundation Awards Grants to Enhance Patient Care Experience
Start Date
The Mercy Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors has awarded $159,146 in grants for 12 special projects aimed at enhancing the patient experience at Mercy Medical Center.

Dave Smetter, the chairman of the Mercy Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors, says the grants are made possible because of the success of last November’s Mercy Foundation gala and the continued generosity shown by the loyal friends of Mercy Medical Center. “The Mercy Medical Center Foundation is honored to be able to support the tremendous work that is being done every single day by the men and women who provide such great care to the residents of Siouxland,” said Smetter. “This recent series of grants will all have a direct impact on patient care and that’s the reason the Foundation exists. We continue to be humbled by the tremendous generosity shown to Mercy by our grateful patients and friends.”

Lea Clausen serves as the Executive Director of the Mercy Medical Center Foundation and she called the new round of grants exciting news for those in direct patient care roles. “The challenges being experienced by hospitals these days are significant,” said Clausen. “With the increasing number of uninsured patients, the need for foundation support becomes even more important to Mercy. The ability to respond in such a positive fashion is rewarding to us as Foundation representatives and also a strong testament to all loyal Mercy benefactors.”
