Dr. Joe Sullivan, one of the leading European authorities on the study of sex behavior offenders, will be the key presenter at Mercy’s Protecting Families Conference on Friday, Oct. 12 from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Sioux City Convention Center at 801 Fourth Street.
Sponsored by the Mercy Child Advocacy Center, the conference for physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, nurses, psychologists, social workers, counselors, law enforcement officers, educators and other interested professionals is designed to provide the latest information about the recognition, treatment, prosecution and prevention of child abuse.
Dr. Sullivan comes to Sioux City from Cork, Ireland. He is the director of Mentor Forensic Services, which is an organization specializing in behavior analysis, child protection and professional sexual misconduct issues. He is a registered forensic psychologist in the United Kingdom as well as being a registered psychologist in Ireland. Dr. Sullivan holds a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology, a Master’s degree in Criminology, a post-graduate diploma in psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences.
Continuing education credit will be awarded for healthcare professionals, those in the field of mental health services, and social workers.
