WHARTON NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AT MERCY MEDICAL CENTER
Jim Wharton has been appointed to the position of Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. The appointment was announced today by Bob Peebles, President and CEO of Mercy.
Wharton came to Mercy in March of 2007 as Director of Development and Public Policy. Earlier this year, he transitioned to the position of Director of Marketing and Communications and has been instrumental in driving all of Mercy’s external marketing efforts. In his expanded position as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Wharton will develop and implement strategies that continue to define Mercy as the region’s leading health care provider. He will continue to manage marketing and advocacy efforts and will also be responsible for strategic planning.
Wharton is a long-time community leader and former mayor of Sioux City. He is a former executive of Gateway and has been active in numerous charitable organizations. He currently serves as Vice President of Camp High Hopes and is a member of the board of directors of Downtown Partners.
Jim is a graduate of Southern Illinois University and holds a master’s degree from the University of South Dakota.
