Mercy Medical Center has decided to re-open its medical clinic in South Sioux City next week. The center has been closed since June 7 because of the rising waters of the Missouri River. Plans call for the clinic to be re-opened to clients next Tuesday, July 12.
Since the flooding episode began in Siouxland, Mercy’s Clinic at 501 First Avenue in South Sioux City has remained dry. Officials have advised the clinic that the main threat to the facility would be ground water infiltration in the basement and measures are being taken to mitigate that risk.
Since the clinic closed nearly a month ago, patients have been seen at other Mercy clinics on Singing Hills Boulevard in Sioux City and the Mercy Clinic in Pender, Nebraska. Beginning July 12, the South Sioux City Mercy Medical Clinic will resume normal business hours at the 501 First Avenue address.
