Grilled Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich Recipe

Heart Healthy Recipe
When you need a healthy after school snack or lunch sandwich, try a heart healthy natural peanut butter and banana panini. It's a treat kids love.

Ingredients

    • 8 slices whole wheat bread
    • 2 Tbsp reduced calorie trans fat free margarine, melted
    • 6 Tbsp natural peanut butter
    • 2 bananas cut into 5 or 6 thin, long strips
    • 2 Tbsp honey, divided

Preparation

    • Preheat panini press to 400°. If you don't have a panini press, heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
    • Brush each side of bread with melted margarine. Spread peanut butter evenly over four slices of bread. Top each with banana slices, drizzle with 1-1/2 tsp honey. Then top with remaining slices of bread.
    • Place on panini press, and cook until bread turns golden brown and is toasted. If using a skillet, cook until both sides are toasted golden brown, flipping as needed. Cut in half for lunch or quarters for snack.
