Where do visitors park at the hospital?

Free parking is available in the hospital's ramp. You can enter the ramp from either 5th or 6th Streets, or from Mercy's south circle drive. Visitors can take elevators to the first floor where there is an information desk in the South Lobby.

Where is handicapped parking available?

Handicapped parking spaces are designated in Mercy's parking ramp, in the vicinity of the Emergency/Trama Department (near Sixth and Jennings Streets), and near the entrance of the Mercy Rehabilitation Center (near Seventh and Jones Streets).

What are Mercy's guidelines for visitors and families?

  • Adult visitors should be limited to two at a time.
  • Children may visit parents as long as no highly infectious or contagious illnesses are present. Only one child should visit at a time.
  • Those with colds, sore throats or any contagious disease should not visit patients.
  • Visits should be kept brief.
  • If you share a room, please respect the other patient's privacy and make your visit as quiet as possible.
  • Visits may be asked to leave while you receive treatment or at the request of your physician.
  • Visiting hours are 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.. The attending physician or nurse may restrict the number of visitors or the length of the visit depending on the patient's location and condition.
  • Intensive Care Visiting Hours: Please check with the ICU staff for guidelines.

When are patients' meals served in the hospital?

Serving times may vary by nursing unit, buy you can generally expect meal service at these times:

Breakfast 8:30 a.m.
Lunch 12:30 p.m.
Dinner 6:00 p.m.

Snacks are available any time. Feel free to ask your nurse.

When is the hospital's cafeteria open?

Located on the third floor of the South Hospital Building, Mercy's café is open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Meal serving times are:
Breakfast: 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Salad and Sandwich Bar and Grill: 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The cafeteria accepts credit cards, debit cards and cash.

Is there a coffee shop at Mercy?

City Blends, a specialty coffee shop, is located on the fifth floor of the North Hospital Building near Mercy's Jones Street entrance. City Blends offers cappuccino, mochas, fruit smoothies and snacks. The shop is open weekdays from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Does Mercy have wireless Internet access?

Patients or visitors with portable devices, including laptops, can use Mercy's wireless Internet access. If you need assistance, ask your nurse. Visitors may use the computers in the family waiting areas in the ICU, Dr. Joseph Washburn Oncology unit, nursing units and the Family Birth Center.

Can I use my cell phone in the hospital?

Using cell phones or portable radios is prohibited in certain areas with patient monitors and special devices because radio waves can interfere with these medical instruments. Visitors must turn off their cell phones and portable radios in patient rooms. Cell phones and portable radios may be used in waiting rooms and public areas of the hospital.

Where is the gift shop located? When is it open?

Mercy's Kaleidoscope Gift Shop is located on the first floor of the South Building at the hospital's Fifth Street entrance. Profits from the Gift Shop support the Mercy Auxiliary's projects at the hospital and its clinics. Auxiliary volunteers also operate a candy cart and visit all areas of the hospital.

Gift Shop hours are:
Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm
Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 4 pm

Is there an ATM at the hospital?

An ATM is on the third floor of the South Building near the cafeteria.

Are there designated smoking areas at Mercy?

Mercy prohibits smoking in the hospital or on the hospital grounds, including public sidewalks adjoining the hospital.

Does Mercy make interpreters available?

Mercy helps non-English speaking patients understand their diagnosis, treatment and discharge instructions by offering interpreter or translator services at no extra cost.

Who do I call if I have questions about my hospital bill?
