Interventional Cardiology
Two
new catheterization labs are located on the fifth floor of the Heart Center. By
incorporating state-of-the-art digital imaging technology, the labs offer interventional
cardiologists with Cardiovascular Associates the clearest possible view of the
cardiovascular system. The catheterization lab capabilities allow cardiologists
to perform a wide range of invasive procedures that include:
- Cardiac
catheterization
- Pacemakers
- Angioplasty
- Stenting
- Coronary brachytherapy
- Abdominal aortic stenting
- Peripheral vascular interventions
A new digital storage and review system is used to archive interventional
images from the cath labs and ultrasound images from the Heart Center’s
non-invasive diagnostic area. This system allows cardiologists and
surgeons to quickly and easily review and transfer images. Because
it is accessible via the Internet, the digital storage system also
makes it possible to rapidly get second opinions and to view images
in surgery suites or anywhere within the hospital.
