Currently the Voice Clinic is operated once per month. Referrals to the Voice Clinic must be made by a physician.

Meet the Team

David V. Wagner, MD is the Medical Director of the Voice Clinic at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center.

Dr. Wagner is a practicing otolaryngologist (ear, nose, throat or ENT) in Sioux City, Iowa. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa in 1987. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Washington in Seattle and the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.

After completing his otolaryngology training, he pursued advanced training in head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Iowa. The Voice Clinic at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center is an outgrowth of Dr. Wagner's strong interest in vocal disorders.

James Olson, CCC-SLP received a Masters of Arts degree in Communication Disorders from the University of South Dakota in 1998 and the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competency in 1999.  He is licensed to practice in the state of Iowa. 

He currently works through MercyOne Siouxland's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department in Sioux City.  His responsibilities include performing a variety of diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic techniques with speech, swallowing and voice patients.  He is a dedicated member of the Voice Clinic team at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center.

Julia Goth-Avery, CCC-SLP received a Masters of Arts degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Northern Iowa in 1987. She obtained her Certificate of Clinical Competency in 1988 through ASHA. Julia is employed with the Speech Pathology and Audiology Department of MercyOne Siouxland's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitative Unit in Sioux City.

Her experience includes working with patients suffering from various neurologic communication disorders. She is a dedicated member of the Voice Clinic team at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center.
