Mercy Opens New Medical Clinic in Tekamah, Neb.
Oakland, Neb. based Oakland Mercy Hospital, a partner to Mercy Medical Center—Sioux City, has opened a new family practice medical clinic in the east central Nebraska town of Tekamah.
Oakland Mercy Hospital, which was acquired by Mercy on Jan. 1, 2007, also operates medical clinics in Oakland and Lyons, Neb.
The newly opened Tekamah Mercy Medical Clinic at 1121 S. 13th Street will be staffed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Initially, Michelle Niewohner, PA-C, will serve the medical needs of Tekamah area patients. In the near future, Dr. Paul Montoya will also join the clinic’s medical staff.
“In an effort to better serve the residents of Burt County, we are very pleased to open a family practice clinic in Tekamah,” said Tim Fischer, CEO/Administrator for Oakland Mercy Hospital. “We are very happy to be part of that community, and we pledge to offer area families the best possible medical care and customer service.”
Oakland Mercy Hospital is a critical access hospital providing emergent, inpatient and outpatient services, as well as several specialty clinics. Founded in 1950, what was previously Oakland Memorial Hospital operated as a non-profit, community-based district hospital with boundaries that encompassed most of Burt County, Neb. prior to Mercy’s acquisition of the facility just over a year ago.
The opening of the Tekamah Mercy Medical Clinic brings to 28 the number of family practice medical clinics in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska currently owned or managed by Mercy. Mercy Medical Services, a partner to Mercy-Sioux City, also operates 8 specialty clinics. In addition to its ownership of Oakland Mercy Hospital, Mercy also owns Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, Iowa, and manages Hawarden Community Hospital in Hawarden, Iowa, and Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Neb.
