Mercy Offers Refuge from Hot Summer Weather

Mercy Medical Center–Sioux City is again offering Siouxland residents who need to escape summer’s heat and humidity a safe place to cool down during the day.

Now in its 21st year, Mercy’s Operation Heat Relief provides people with a cool place to rest.

During periods of hot weather this summer, those who need relief from heat and humidity may come to Mercy's air-conditioned cafeteria or south lobby.  The cafeteria is located on the third floor of the south hospital building, and the lobby is on the first floor near Mercy’s Fifth Street entrance.  Ice water will be available in the cafeteria at no charge.

Limited transportation services are available to those with no means of travel and may be arranged by calling Mercy’s transportation department at 279-2385.
