“If disease were killing
our children in the proportions that accidents are, people would
be outraged and demand that this killer be stopped.”
C. Everett Koop, MD
Former U.S. Surgeon General |
Who
are we
Safe Kids Woodbury County is part of a global network of organizations
whose mission is to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading
killer of children 14 and under. More than 450 coalitions in 16
countries bring together health and safety experts, educators, corporation,
foundations, governments and volunteers to educate and protect families.
What we do
Locally, Safe Kids focuses on bicycle safety, car seat safety, fire
safety, water safety, poison prevention and other injury prevention
programs.
There is no one device or solution that prevents all types of accidental
childhood injuries.
Instead, Safe Kids combines several factors to create programs that
reduce injuries:
- Educating adults and children
- Creating safe environments
- Conducting research
- Advocating for effective laws
