How to Apply

How to ApplyApplication for entrance into the program is made through the Committee on Medical Technology Education (COMTE). Application forms may be obtained from the academic affiliate's medical technology advisor on campus, by downloading and printing from the links below, or from the program director at Mercy Medical Center - Sioux City, School of Medical Technology, 801 5th St., Sioux City, IA. 51101. Applications must be postmarked on or before October 1 for the class starting the following August. Interviews are completed during November. Student selection is usually complete by late December. Late applicants will be considered if openings exist.

The evaluation of an applicant is based upon the grade point average, interview(s), references and a statement of the applicant's expectations and goals. These are scored in accordance with the pattern adopted by the Committee on Medical Technology Education and carry these weight-values:

  • GPA, science courses 30%
  • GPA, non-science courses 10%
  • Academic progress 10%
  • Interview(s) 30%
  • References 15%
  • Applicant's statement 5%
