Programs and Services

Whether the effect of an illness or injury is mild or severe, a well-coordinated rehabilitation program offers the best chance for recovery. Mercy Rehabilitation customizes programs and services to meet the unique needs of the patient who has suffered a stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury or other impairments.

Our rehabilitation experts carefully plan each step of the patient's recovery, from evaluation and therapy to home care and community support services. Members of the rehabilitation team work closely with the patient and his or her family to achieve the patient's goal. The team is led by the rehabilitation physiatrist and includes the patient, the family, nurses, psychologists, physical, occupational, speech and recreation therapists, the rehabilitation coordinator, the case manager/social worker, dietician, support counselor and pastoral care support person.

Dr. Cynthia Willingham serves as medical director for Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

All programs offer:

  • A comprehensive treatment approach that puts the patient at the center of a team of rehabilitation professionals
  • An intensive therapy program of at least two therapies, five days a week
  • 24-hour rehabilitation nursing
  • 24-hour physician supervision
  • A continuum of inpatient and outpatient services

Additional Mercy Rehabilitative services include:
