What
is Urgent Care?
This type of care specializes in treating a disease, illness or
injury when presented on an episodic basis. The disease, illness
or injury is usually acute and with treatment is fully corrected
in seven to fourteen days. The services are provided beyond the
'normal' 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday office hours and
an appointment is not required. Physician and medical staffs are
full-time providers in the urgent care clinic setting.
What are examples of illnesses and injuries that Urgent Care
addresses?
Common services provided in an urgent care clinic include minor
lacerations, fractures, bumps, sore throats, ear infections and
other "just don't feel good conditions". Mercy Urgent Care provides
these urgent healthcare services for injuries and illnesses that
occur at home or at work.
Are there certain health conditions that Urgent Care does not
typically address?
Because of the focus on only episodic problems, urgent care practitioners
do not provide obstetric services, in-hospital admission, long-term
management of chronic disease such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease,
hypertension or other conditions requiring long-term medical management
and continuity of care using the medical record history.
Will my insurance cover Urgent Care services?
Most insurance plans will cover this type of care. Mercy Business
Health Services/Mercy Urgent Care accepts most insurance.
