March on in for this one day class and leave as a certified babysitter. Johnene Gutzmann, RN, is a Certified Babysitter Instructor through the American Red Cross. This class covers basic childcare, leadership skills, bedtime, how to handle difficult behaviors and safety. Receive hands on practice and scenarios with bottle-feeding, spoon-feeding, and diapering. Learn what to do for a Conscious Choking Infant and Child and Emergency Care and First Aid. The child must be 11 yrs. old or turning 11 yrs. old within a couple months of the date of class to receive a certificate.
Each participate will receive pizza for lunch (we will have both cheese and pepperoni available), two snacks, a handbook/CD, and a course certificate.
Please come between 8:15 am and 8:30 am to check in for the class. If you are earlier, and no one is there yet, please have a seat in the lobby by the gift shop.
DIRECTIONS FOR PARKING AND TO LEITER ROOM
The babysitting class is held at Mercy Medical Center, 801 Fifth St., Sioux City, IA 51101, in the Leiter Room is located on the first floor of the South Building. If you pull into the South Entrance off of 5th Street, you will see there are doors going into the South Building. When you walk through that door, you will see to your right is the gift shop and across from it is an information desk and running between the two is a hallway that leads you directly to the Leiter Room. You may temporarily park in this South Entrance (circle drive) to come in and drop off your child.
