Siouxland Medical Center: Obstetrics Care (OB) closure

After a thorough review process and examination of changing community health care needs, MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center and the MercyOne Siouxland Board of Directors has announced the decision to discontinue obstetrics (OB) services at MercyOne Siouxland, effective Sept. 1, 2020. This decision will allow MercyOne to make continued investments to expand other health care services and programs not currently offered in the region.

  • MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center will be discontinuing obstetrics (OB) services, effective Sept. 1, 2020. After this date, we will no longer be performing deliveries.
  • Any patients greater than 20 weeks pregnant who require emergency care should be referred to or go to the UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Emergency Room for evaluation.
  • Patients presenting directly to a hospital for labor and delivery care should directly access UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Birth Center, 2720 Stone Park Boulevard, Sioux City, 51104, 712-279-3500.
  • All patients, regardless of pregnancy status, whose injuries meet mandatory Level II Trauma Destination, as per the out of hospital trauma triage Destination decision protocol, must be taken to MercyOne Siouxland Trauma Center (Emergency Department).
  • We welcome the opportunity to meet or talk further with you to review any questions you may have about this change and make plans for ongoing care at 712-279-2010.
